A recent update by Leia, Inc. to the LeiaTube app has made our YouTube half-width, side-by-side livestream appear broken (recorded YouTube videos are OK in LeiaTube). It’s unlikely that Leia, Inc. will be fixing this bug anytime soon.
Twitch is a live-streaming service popular with gamers. My tests show that Twitch works seamlessly with LeiaTube and is not affected by the bug that plagues our YouTube livestream on the Lume Pad.
Beginning in February, the GGSS will offer a third livestream in addition to our YouTube half-width, side-by-side stream and our YouTube anaglyph stream. The Twitch livestream will broadcast our half-width, side-by-side slideshow and is intended specifically for Lume Pad users.
There are two ways to access our Twitch livestream on the Lume Pad: On their web site, or with their app.
Method 1: The Twitch Web Site
On your Lume Pad, open the https://www.twitch.tv/ggss3d web site.
Click the “Customize Chrome” button (the three vertical dots in the top right of the browser window).
From The Customize Chrome menu, select Share…
Share the Twitch livestream with the LeiaTube app.
Method 2 The Twitch App
The Twitch app can be installed on the Lume Pad. A Twitch account is required for the app, but otherwise the process is similar to the web site.
- On your Lume Pad, install the Twitch app from the Google Play Store
- Find “GGSS3D,” the Golden Gate Stereoscopic Society’s page on Twitch
- Share the Twitch livestream with the LeiaTube app
