Our August 4, 2026 stereo slideshow was exceptional, with 35 original stereo photographs livestreamed on YouTube, Twitch, and Zoom. Unfortunately Twitch disagreed, disconnecting our livestream in the middle of the meeting and issuing a 24-hour suspension to the Golden Gate Stereoscopic Society. From Twitch:

“Twitch is committed to keeping our community safe for everyone, and as a part of that, we require all users to ensure that anything shared on their account abides by Twitch’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.”

The offence that led to the suspension was an innocuous stereo photo featuring nudists, photographed by a nudist. The photo was tasteful and revealed no reproductive organs. Nevertheless, that much skin triggered a reaction from Twitch.

I won’t allow a tech company to dictate the content of our stereo slideshows. Nor do I want GGSS members to sensor their own photography. Moving forward, if a stereo photo in our slideshow has nudity, a blank image will take the place of the implicated photograph on our Twitch and YouTube livestreams. The stereo photo will be displayed as intended on our Zoom screenshare and will be included with the file download option.

I recognize Twitch’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Nevertheless, if our streaming providers continue with punitive reactions we will re-consider our streaming strategy. No action by a streaming provider will prevent Golden Gate Stereoscopic Society members from sharing their stereo photography at our meetings.
